Big Finish: How Very Dare They

Bastards! Just because they've managed the six impossible things of

- Bringing back Tegan on a regular basis
- Bringing back the Fourth Doctor on a regular basis
- Bringing back Gallifrey 90210 to tell the story of the Time War
- Brought the ongoing Eighth Doctor audios to an end
- Made the unmade Season 27
- Given Charley Pollard her own spin-off series

They now add

- reject Saturday Night at the Red Lion by yours truly as part of their Short Trips audio saga!

I mean, all ideas I did first - AND I GOT PROOF - but do they actually take stuff I OFFER WILLINGLY?

A clue: no.

I wouldn't have minded if someone better had got job, yet I find no mention of "Johan Redsen" being on the books, nor a "CJ Mason". Thankfully I find no "Joshua Wynne", "Mark Goucher" or "Smokin Gjacket" either.

As a protest, I have recommenced the Big Finish piss-off mockery!

The Magic Mushroom

YOU DID THIS, BRIGGSY! I NAME THEE FOREVER THE DESTROYER OF MY SELF ESTEEM!

...

Bugger, I hope that didn't just wreck my chance on the other competition.

Aw, who am I kidding? They probably didn't even read Immoral Victories...

To be fair, my entry wasn't terribly good... hey, now I have something to post!

Oh... damn, now I also have to admit to not having read your entry yet. (*Guilty staring at own feet*) I'll check it out soon...

I was naively hoping one of us could take out the contest... ah, well.

Well, it's probably not worth reading judging by the professional reaction.

I was naively hoping one of us could take out the contest... ah, well.
Yeah. Still, we can continue our minimalistic belief that we've won the remaining comp and were automatically dismissed from the other.

I hate my life.

I actually read Red Lion last night, and was veyr impressed but the net dropped out before I could comment here. Some of the lines were downright hilarious "Even their aristocracy work in pubs!" and the nutty concept was well handled.

Perhaps my favourite moment was the revelation that the Doctor had put C'rizz through a completely hellish experience for the sake of a massively lame pun - firstly for being downright crazy but secondly for also being entirely in character.

When reading it, I was thinking this should have been a subplot in a modern day story... the first thing that leaped to me head was if this was a b-story in, say, Memory Lane it would have been a lot more memorable. (Or, better yet, any of the other stories which literally barely recall)

If I had to guess why it wasn't accepted the first thing that jumps to my mind is that it's essentially a funny little character piece, and they may have been looking for something with a plotline (going off the link they supplied to previous feedback), so I guess it ties back to your first complaints about the restrictions of the contest not suiting your writing style.

The other thing, I'm guessing, would be the Dalek cameo, as that same page of feedback mentioned even references to past monsters etc were not going to be allowed so that could have been a quick deciding factor against the story I'm afraid.

I'd like to congratulate you nevertheless, for using C'rizz in a far more interesting way than they ever did. If we were to make an audio from the concept I'm sure it would be very popular..

Oh, and going back for a moment did you say they're ENDING the PMG stories? Is he going to join the past Doctor schedule or are they just pissing him off for the time being?

Cool.

Yeah, I was pretty proud of it as well.

Well, my initial idea was very different and involved C'rizz and his split personalities struggling to mount a rescue operation to save the Doctor and Charley from some evil bodysnatchers.

But the wordcount meant I couldn't do it justice. Hence focussing more on the comedy angle (since C'Rizz and comedy have rarely been put together).

The other thing, I'm guessing, would be the Dalek cameo, as that same page of feedback mentioned even references to past monsters etc were not going to be allowed so that could have been a quick deciding factor against the story I'm afraid.
Yeah, I worried about that. I didn't know it was "even references" though. Certainly I assumed the fact it was one sentence wouldn't kill the whole thing...

I'd like to congratulate you nevertheless, for using C'rizz in a far more interesting way than they ever did. If we were to make an audio from the concept I'm sure it would be very popular..
Well, at least I know I impressed someone I consider talented.

Oh, and going back for a moment did you say they're ENDING the PMG stories? Is he going to join the past Doctor schedule or are they just pissing him off for the time being?
It's really hard to say.

They are not going to do the sideline PMG seasons any more, and the next one will "end all the story arcs since Blood of the Daleks". After that PMG will be doing random stories like the others, but they might be 'missing adventures' rather than 'new ones' if you get my drift.

The last story's entitled "To the Death" ominously enough.
